Sam Simmonds 2026

We are thrilled to be attending the Sam Simmonds Meeting on 8th May, honouring the remarkable legacy of Franklin Adin “Sam” Simmonds F.R.C.S. who was a truly formative figure in British orthopaedics. Renowned for the Simmonds’ test for Achilles tendon rupture, which he developed in the late 1950s and remains a staple in clinical practice today. Sam Simmonds also contributed significantly to early hip replacement surgery through his work with John Charnley. His career spanned pioneering surgical practice, distinguished military service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps, and decades of patient care at Pyrford and The Royal Surrey County Hospital. We’re excited to join attendees to celebrate his impact and engaging in the rich discussions this meeting always inspires.
