Frequently Asked Questions
Wrist arthrodesis is a surgical procedure in which the wrist joint is fused together. A wrist arthrodesis plate is designed to stabilize the wrist joint after wrist fusion. The plate is fixed to the bones with nails, such as IMPLATE®, which provides compression and stability to the fused joint. Wrist plating systems are commonly used to treat:
- Arthritis
- Trauma injuries
- Congenital deformities
The plate can be placed on the dorsal (back) or volar(front) side of the wrist, depending on the patient’s condition and the surgeon’s preference.
- Improved stability: The wrist arthrodesis nail provides superior stability compared to other types of wrist surgery.
- Faster recovery
- Greater range of motion
- Reduced risk of complications
Common symptoms of wrist arthritis include:
- Pain in the wrist such as dull, aching, or sharp pain
- Swelling and inflammation of the wrist
- Stiffness that interferes with movement or use of the wrist.
- Difficulty with gripping
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis before seeking treatment.
